The Mission of the Benton JROTC program is “To motivate young people to be better citizens.”
JROTC has over 150 students enrolled in grades 9 through 12 with additional students in the 8th grade enrolled in the LOTC Program. The program has been recognized both regionally and nationally for its achievements. The curriculum includes instruction and development in several areas including discipline, commitment, leadership, and fitness. Students engage in the community through participation in parades, support for various organizations, and service learning projects.
LTC Timothy Farmer is the Senior Army Instructor. He is a retired field artillery officer and served over 20 years on active duty in the United States Army. He has a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a master’s degree from Webster University.
MSG Michael Billingsley is the Army Instructor. He is a retired Military Police non-commissioned officer and served over 22 years on active duty in the United States Army. He has a bachelor’s degree from Columbia Southern University and a master’s degree from Columbia Southern University. He additionally has a master’s degree in education from Liberty University.
